At the May 5th TSPS Board meeting our Governmental Affairs and SURPAC Committees issued a challenge to raise $11,000 in SURPAC contributions over the next few months. Per the advice of legal counsel Mark Hanna, “SURPAC needs to contribute an additional $8,000 to the members of the Sunset Commission prior to October 1, 2012, and an additional $6,000 to special friends in the House and Senate prior to November 6, 2012.” SURPAC has a balance of approximately $3,500 which would equal the $14,000 total needed. This $11,000 averages to less than $7.00 per TSPS member.
Shane Neally, TSPS Vice President stated “An important part of the political process is to make contributions to those legislators who are supportive of TSPS’s legislative agenda. We need to continue to increase our level of commitment so that our impact with elected officials will become more significant. I would encourage all members of TSPS to make some sort of contribution, large or small, to SURPAC because together we will make a difference. I wouldn’t ask anyone to do something that I wouldn’t do - my contribution was mailed last week and has been received at the TSPS office.”
